Playlist to get PUMPED!

As you may know from a previous post or two, I play co-ed, two-hand-touch football in a social sports league.  I love it more than most things in my life, and I completely recognize how extreme that sounds, but it’s true.

For years I’ve played “competitive” social sports including football, softball and volleyball. I have rocked out a championship in softball, and at least a handful in volleyball, but I always seem fall short of the trophy when it comes to football. My team has made it to the championship game a few times, but we have yet to clinch that spot of superiority.

Tomorrow are our Fall season playoffs. We have our quarterback, some of our best receivers, but we are missing most of our girl players. Teams need 3 ladies on the field, and we will have exactly 3 ladies at the game. That means no breaks, no subs, and going 100% until the end.  On one hand it’s intimidating, on the other hand I effing love playing and never really like to come off the field anyway. The difference tomorrow will be is if we win, we will play for 3 hours straight.

Every week on my way to the game I like to blast my favorite music. Normally I always find something good on one of my many XM stations, but this week I decided to take control of my playlist.  Below are my jams that I belt out, that make me feel infuckingdestructable… like I’m ready to take some bitches down.

For your listening pleasure this is the link to the Spotify playlist, and here are the tracks you’ll find on it.

Delirious- Steve Aoki

More- Usher

Centuries- Fall Out Boy

Can’t Hold Us- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Animals- Maroon 5

Champagne Showers- LMFAO

You’re the Best- Joe Esposito (from The Karate Kid)

Titanium- David Guetta/Sia

*and in case you’re wondering why Champagne Showers is considered a Pumped Up Playlist song, it’s because our team vowed years ago that if we ever won it all, we would have a champagne shower celebration.

There Is No Way I’m Not Commenting On This Bullshit, Lululemon

I am from Buffalo, NY.  We are home to the Buffalo Bills (NFL) and Buffalo Sabres (NHL); the only two professional sports team in the city.  Both franchises have had their share of heartbreak, specifically the Bills and 4 Super Bowl losses in a row, the first being from a missed field goal in the final seconds of the game.

Every January as two new teams are preparing to play in the Super Bowl, every media outlet reminisces of Super Bowls past, and every year us Bills fans are subject to watch the clip of Scott Norwood missing the field goal, wide right of the post.  It’s like looking at a car wreck, you know you shouldn’t look, but you just can’t help yourself.  The wound is open and you hold it there for the media to pour in the salt. It’s extremely painful, and probably something only Bills fans understand.

Recently, Lululemon decided to open a store in a local mall (as if people in Buffalo want to pay $60 for a pair of yoga pants).  Some asshole in the Lululemon design department decided that they should add some local flair to the foyer of the store in the form of a mosaic with some oh-so inspiring words for their customers.

Enter this gem of an idea:

Thanks Lululemon, the city of Buffalo appreciates the reminder of the heartbreak and loss our sports teams have suffered.

Thanks Lululemon, the city of Buffalo appreciates the reminder of the heartbreak and loss our sports teams have suffered.

WHO THINKS THIS IS A GOOD IDEA??????? A COMPLETE FUCKTARD.

I’m going to be honest, if I worked at Lululemon (which I wouldn’t because they don’t believe in carrying size XL, which I am, and I don’t appreciate their size-ism, but that’s a post for another day), and I walked into the store and saw that shit, I would have quit. On the spot. But I’m a diehard sports fan, so I understand Sally Yogapants probably didn’t care.

So to wrap up my little angry rant, I’d like to leave Lululemon with some ideas for their other store locations:

Cleveland: “Mistake by the Lake”

Boston: “Curse of the Bambino” or “18-1”

Baltimore: “Original Home of the Colts”

Washington DC: “Hail to the Redskins”

Philadelphia: “T.O. Was Here”

3 Things: Football

Bon Jovi, Booyah, boycott, Buffalo Bills, burn, football, Livin on a Prayer, Ralph Wilson, Ray Rice, social sports, Toronto

So this will be the portion of the blog that I pick 3 either random or associated things to talk about. Honestly, today, it’s a way for me to write a post without doing too much research and re-writing, i.e. lazy bones post.

3 Things: Football

#1: Winning! My two favorite teams won this past weekend, the Buffalo Bills and BOOYAH!

*If you don’t know, Booyah! is the coed social sports team I’ve been playing on since I moved to Maryland almost 10 years ago.  We are a team that other teams look at pre-game and think they’ve got it made. Until we kick.their.ass.  I could go on and on and on about how much I love playing football with these people, but I will save that for another day.

#2: The Buffalo Bills will remain the BUFFALO Bills! When word of Bon Jovi and the Toronto group bidding on the Bills came out, the city revolted. I swore that if Bon Jovi took ownership of our team to move to Toronto (or anywhere other than Buffalo) I would do two things: I would NEVER again sing Livin On A Prayer and I would personally organize the Metro DC burning of all things Bon Jovi.

I’m SUPER relieved I get to keep rocking out to Livin On A Prayer; I’m going to a friends wedding this weekend and it’s one of my favorite drunk songs. I’m also relieved to not have to organize the burning party because I know what a bitch it can be to try and get a permit to do anything in DC.

#3: Burn It! I said it yesterday on my Facebook page, but I mean it. If you own a Ray Rice jersey I hope you burn it. I have some lighter fluid and matches I won’t be using on old Bon Jovi cd’s now, so call me if you need some help.
